What is UFM in AKTU?
UFM stands for Unfair Means. If a student is caught using mobile phones, smartwatches, chits, or communicating during an external examination, the flying squad or invigilator books them under UFM.
Categories of UFM Punishment
AKTU classifies UFM offenses into different categories, and the punishment varies depending on the severity:
- Category 1 (Minor): Caught talking or looking around. Punishment: Warning or cancellation of that specific subject's exam.
- Category 2 (Moderate): Caught with chits or written material relevant to the exam. Punishment: Cancellation of that specific exam, and the student is awarded zero marks.
- Category 3 (Severe): Caught with electronic devices (smartphones) or impersonation. Punishment: Cancellation of ALL examinations of that entire semester. The student will have to reappear for all subjects as back papers.
How to submit a UFM Clarification Letter?
Before announcing the final punishment, AKTU releases a list of suspected UFM students. These students are given a chance to submit a clarification letter (via email or through the college). If the committee finds your explanation genuine, they might reduce the punishment.
